As I walk down the narrow lane towards the class room yet another morning, I cannot help but be mesmerised by the beauty of the lakes on either side of the road. As the gentle zephyr balms my face, I am yet again fascinated by the countless unblemished beauty growing from the dark watery mire. Born in the muck of earthly platitude, its base gently sits on the water withering with the ripples created by the soothing breeze. Its grace and aplomb structure reminds me of the pride with which it has been held as the national symbol since time immemorial. As I take a closer look at some of them which are in full blossom, I could see the stern stem giving strength to the plethora of petals around it.
I wonder how similar has been our lesson of life – in which we have been taught to have a strong inner self – but yet a very soothing social self. Doesn’t it remind me of the lectures that taught me that corporates should have the inner resilience to outperform competitors, yet have the outward social responsibility? It yet again shows me that the lessons of life that has been refined and taught through the ages of human civilization is nothing but a mere reflection of the innate beauty around us – it shows how strongly nature has directed the human thought process though its unscathed simplicity. Evident it is, how Mother Nature has come to us in so very different forms and taught us in every step of our life. As I take the first lesson of the morning, I slowly stroll towards the classroom to start yet another day of intense learning – yet another day of vast knowledge inside and IIM classroom – still oblivious of the much more vast knowledge that I am leaving behind outside the classroom. I just wish that I could learn from the so many different ways IIMC is teaching us – both inside and outside the four boundaries of a room......I just wish......
